History of NMN

Nicotinamide mononucleotide (molecular formula: C11H15N2O8P, CAS number: 1094-61-7, also known as NMN, beta-Nicotinamide mononucleotide or β-NMN) is a vitamin B3 metabolite [1], naturally found in the human body, and in common foods such as broccoli and cabbage in tiny amounts[2].

NMN started to gain interest as a potential nutritional supplement in 2013, after a breakthrough study conducted by Harvard scientists on mice [3,4].

NMN was first produced as a supplement for humans in 2015 [5], but was extremely expensive to manufacture, until methods were developed to reduce production costs and increase purity in 2018[6], at which point laboratories geared up for mass production started to come online.

What is NMN powder?

Nicotinamide mononucleotide (molecular formula: C11H15N2O8P, CAS number: 1094-61-7, also known as NMN, beta-Nicotinamide mononucleotide or β-NMN) is a vitamin B3 metabolite [1], naturally found in the human body, and in common foods such as broccoli and cabbage in tiny amounts[2].

Nicotinamide Mononucleotide (NMN) is a naturally occurring compound that is in small amounts in the human body as well as some foods. NMN is orally bioavailable, and when taken orally can support NAD+ levels within liver and muscle tissue.

Recent research has suggested that NMN may support cardiovascular health, energy production, cognitive health, and well as retinal and bone health. One especially interesting finding of NMN research is that it may promote DNA repair and support the activation of the SIRTUIN genes which are thought to play a role in healthy aging.

How does work?

NMN is a precursor to the NAD+ molecule; the human body requires NMN in order to make its own NAD+.

NAD+ is the oxidised form of NAD (Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide), a molecule first discovered in 1906, and found in all living cells [7].

Supplementing with NAD+ itself is not an option to boost NAD+ levels, because it is too big to readily cross cell membranes to enter cells, and therefore would be unable to positively affect metabolism [8].

NMN benefits.

One way that we might sustain healthy levels of NAD+ is by supplementing our bodies with its precursor, nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN).

Current research shows that this transformation between NR and NMN must take place for entry to a few cell types. This leads researchers to believe that NMN is, in fact, one of the quickest means of stimulating NAD production. However, Nicotinamide mononucleotide powder are also proving to have their own anti-aging benefits beyond those of NAD production alone.

In addition to the NAD metabolic pathway, NMN powder can be added directly to cells without converting to NAD. This phenomenon is made possible by newly discovered transport proteins that increase in number after NAD levels drop off. In this form, NMN contributes to cell energy and allows each of the previously mentioned anti-aging properties promoted by cells with adequate ability to grow and regenerate.

Choosing to supplement with NMN powder along with NAD provides a much more direct path to promoting cell metabolism and is thus a much quicker means of doing the same. In addition, Nicotinamide mononucleotide powder has been found to improve insulin activity and production, resulting in additional metabolic benefits as well as glucose tolerance. In particular, NMN supplements can help work to alleviate metabolic conditions like diabetes, fatty liver disease, and obesity. [11]

Other Potential Benefits of NMN

  • Promotes Vascular Health and Blood Flow.[11]
  • Improves Muscle Endurance and Strength
  • Protects Against Heart Disease
  • Lowers Risk of Obesity.[10]
  • Enhances Maintenance of DNA Repair
  • Increases Mitochondrial Function.[9]

How to get stable, pure, safe NMN?

In order to determine how a stable, authentic, pure and safe product can be achieved, a series of tests and analysis was conducted. COA, HPLC and HNMR reports can be provided.

Improved stability

By analyzing the Nicotinamide mononucleotide structure and using charge transfer and in-situ FTIR monitoring method, it was discovered that NMN has one inner salt structure and isoelectric point of inner salt is the key factor of NMN instability. Water, as one polar molecule, will induce electrical transfer within NMN that can destroy the quite stable inner salt skeleton of NMN. If so, NMN will show a metastable transition structure which degrades easily, namely water content in the product and free water molecules in the air will directly destroy the isoelectric point of inner salt and bring down the purity of NMN. This is a big breakthrough in NMN powder stability research, which will be one start to get improved.

To improve the stability of NMN powder internally, researchers creatively developed a new NMN powder with orderly and compact microscopic arrangement.

Stronger stability, longer shelf life.

Phcoker NMN powder is more orderly and compact, effectively blocking the contact with free water in the air, greatly increasing the stability of NMN and extending the shelf life of the product. Contrary to the novel NMN microscopic arrangement, the first generation sawtooth structure shows more disorder and incompact, thus every molecule will get more exposure to air and absorb more water.

Higher density, more stable dosage and flexible formulation.

NMN powder with an orderly and compact microscopic arrangement has higher bulk density and fluidity, which avoids unstable dosage due to raising dust in the process of preparation. What’s more, it will affect uniform dosage of capsules. Meanwhile, since it has better fluidity, Our NMN powder can help reduce the production period and the manufacturing cost during the production.

Guaranteed high quality and pure

Third party lab testing reports should be necessary to verify the identity and purity of NNM. Each batch of raw materials must pass strict self-inspection and third-party testing. HNMR and HPLC testing reports can further confirm the authenticity, high quality and purity of NMN.
