Triptorelin (57773-63-4) Description
Triptorelin is a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist and a potent inhibitor of testosterone (male) and estrogen (female) synthesis for the treatment of advanced prostate cancer. Triptorelin was associated with a transient increase in serum enzymes during treatment, but was not convincingly linked to clinically significant cases of acute liver injury.
Triptorelin is a synthetic decapeptide agonist analog of luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH). Triptorelin has greater potency than endogenous LHRH and reversibly inhibits gonadotropin secretion. After chronic continuous administration, the drug can continue to reduce LH and FSH production as well as testicular and ovarian steroid production. Serum testosterone concentrations may be reduced to levels normally observed in men who have undergone surgical castration.
