Enfuvirtide (also known as T-20) is a fusion inhibitor anti-AIDS targeted drug. Enfuvirtide is a 36 residue synthetic peptide that inhibits HIV-1 fusion with CD4 cells and is used with other anti-retrovirals for combination therapy of HIV INFECTIONS and AIDS, has a role as a HIV fusion inhibitor. It is an N-terminal acetylated, C-terminal amide.
Enfuvirtide is an antiretroviral drug. It is used with other medicines to treat HIV. This medicine is not a cure for HIV. This medicine can lower, but not fully prevent, the risk of spreading HIV to others. Compare HIV entry inhibitors.
